Hi, just tried to subscribe but this triggered fraud detection on my debit card. (Thought I'd let you know in case this stops other people subscribing). Best wishes, Justin

Well hope you manage to sort it and good luck with the publication. I’ll try subscribing again when my card is cleared. I ate at Maré last week on your recommendation, which was excellent (although not better than Furna).

Oh! That's no good! Thanks for letting me know. I will see what Substack say and let you know.

It was something to do with Substack being a US entity but Brightons Best being UK.

Oh, that is strange. The Substack AI says:

'There are a few reasons why a reader's card might trigger fraud detection when subscribing to your Substack publication:

Their bank may have flagged the charge as suspicious or fraudulent, which is common with online transactions. We recommend the reader contact their bank to allow the charge to clear.

Sometimes, Stripe (our payments processor) may flag accounts or transactions, or payments may not be supported in certain countries.

Substack also has fraud prevention mechanisms in place to protect both publishers and readers.

If the issue persists, you can share these points with your reader and suggest they check with their bank first.'

Not sure of that helps particularly. I'm not sure what to do about that.
